I heard this book is awesome! I just requested it from our library, can't wait to start reading it and join in on the discussion. Maybe we could come up with a way in which we could integrate some parts of it in our teaching?

Our fall book will be Omnivore's Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals by Michael Pollan.

Maria,
It looks like you got off to a great start here on MSP2! You jumped right in, joined groups, and grew your friends list.

How are things going for you here? Are you finding useful information?

Please let us know how we can help.

Also, I wanted to say high to "my neighbor." I live in Rock Hill, SC - just across the line from Charlotte.

I hope your year is going well!

Please answer the other profile questions so we can know you better.
- Rebecca

Hi Marta - It would be great if you go back into your profile and answer two additional questions that we just added - I need help with and I can help with. We want people to be able to search by those parameters.

In addition, we've just started a book club - the fall book is Omnivore's Dilemma - it would be great if you joined in. Kim

Hi Marta - Let me second Mary's welcome. Even though you are a high school biology teacher we've got some resources that I think will still be helpful - look at the left side of the Main page - Science Resource Guides, Diigo lists, and project blogs where we highlight exemplary online math and science resources and the research that is going on at the polar regions.

You'll also see that we have some links in the MSP2 Resources box - Getting Funding, Favorite Blogs, and Freeware/Shareware. We hope that members of the network will help us add content to these pages.

In addition, I want to update you on our free webinars and hope you can join us for one of them soon.

We've had four Tech Talks so far - one on Interactive Notebooks, Moodle, Digital Storytelling, and Wikis. You can get to the recordings of those by clicking on the Web Archive link.

You can see all our upcoming events by clicking on the Events tab. We've got lots more topics to cover in the next few months - technology, pedagogy, content knowledge, all sorts of fun stuff!

Any ideas on additional topics or feedback you have would be greatly appreciated! Welcome – Kim

Thank you, Marta, for the update and information. Your experience as a high school biology teacher will be (see, I have expectations!) a great benefit to this community and our conversations!!

Welcome, Marta!

I see you already have a couple of friends here on MSP2. Was it one of them who told you about MSP2? One of our Teacher Leaders here on MSP2, Todd Williamson, is a North Carolinian, as well.

Would love to hear a little bit about you--what other disciplines you teach; what science topics you find most challenging; what topics you enjoy teaching; something about your school; how a community like MSP2 can best assist and support you.

This is a growing community. The resources and rich and the experience represented by the people is vast. Please feel free to jump in, get involved, post, comment, share, contribute in ways that are most advantageous for you.

Again, welcome.

M
